Grapes: Pinot Noir.
Character of the Wine: Fine notes of red fruits, roasting and spices on the nose. The palate is silky, velvety and elegant.
Harvest and Vinification: Manual harvest in 40 kg boxes with sorting, pressing of whole grapes for 8 hours, static decantation of the juices for 12 hours, alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature with indigenous yeasts for 5 months, aging on fine lees until at the beginning of September, the wine then undergoes a fine filtration before being bottled. The wine does not undergo any fining, chaptalisation, acidification or enzymation.
Laying down: Optimum tasting: 2020 – 2030
The Bott-Geyl Estate, located in Beblenheim in Alsace, is composed of 15 hectares of vineyards spread over 7 different communes. Rich of a strong family heritage, Jean-Christophe Bott produces wines with Alsace, Alsace Grand Cru and Crémant d'Alsace appellations.
Each of its vintages is worked in order to find the perfect balance between power and length in mouth. And it is a successful challenge!
Our story:Heir to a family tradition dating back to 1795 where the love of the vine is passed on from generation to generation, Jean-Christophe Bott has been running the Bott-Geyl estate since 1993
. 24 years old when he took over the estate, he is rich in knowledge thanks to his viticultural experience acquired with winemakers in France, Germany, Australia and South Africa. An ardent defender of the terroirs, he works on small volumes and manages his vinification in a natural and progressive way. This work was rewarded by the Gault & Millau wine guide in 1996 when he was awarded the prize for best winemaker of the year!

"It may seem obvious to some, but many winemakers neglect it all the same: "Everything happens in the vineyard". Only a high quality grape allows you to dream of a great wine. I am an ardent defender of the soils, and all the philosophy of the Bott-Geyl Domain resides in the will to go towards the highest degree of expression of these same soils"

The domain, from now on led in organic farming since 2000 and in biodynamy since 2002, possesses 6 Grands-crus, 4 Lieux-dits and 1 historical Clos
Constantly in search of authenticity and excellence, Jean-Christophe elaborates wines that relate to the notion of "Grand vin d'Alsace".
