Description

Reserve set at £99.00. Unavailable worldwide.

1st vintage of this wine and I would have thought quite fragile now so do not decant for too long.

95/100 Jeremy Oliver

“This single vineyard Cabernet was named after the Late Cyril Henschke who purchased this Eden Valley property in the 1970s. It now comprises small elements of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Soils are well drained with sandy loams over gravel and patches of clay. Early vintages were partially barrel fermented and matured in American oak.

Fifth generation owner and winemaker Stephen Henschke released the first vintage in 1978. Its name is a tribute to his late father Cyril, who created the world-renowned single-vineyard Hill of Grace Shiraz in the late 1950s.

The Cyril Henschke is also a single vineyard wine. Like the Hill of Grace it hails from the higher altitude, cooler Barossa Ranges’ sub-region of Eden Valley. Here the longer growing season gently allows the finicky cabernet sauvignon fruit to fully ripen.”
