The lot consists of two bottles of 1993 Barolo:-

One bottle of 1993 Luigi Scavino Azelia "Bricco Fiasco" Barolo.
One bottle of 1993 Poderi Aldo Conterno "Colonnello" Barolo.

"All Piedmontese producers I spoke with expressed far greater satisfaction with their 1993s than their 1992s or 1991s.Many producers feel the wines will turn out to be as good as the 1987s,and in some cases as fine as the 1988s".

The 1993 Barolo Bricco Fiasco exhibits an impressively saturated dark ruby/purple color,followed by aromas of spicy,toasty new oak,lead pencil,black cherries,and tar.Rich and well focused,this large-framed,superconcentrated Barolo possesses nicely integrated tannin and acidity,giving it a forward,sweet,rich,flavorful personality,as well as considerable aging potential.The 1993 Bricco Fiasco is marginally superior to the outstanding 1989 and 1990.
