@ Ehrenreich's Dinner Party. Served alongside 95 Vieux Telegraphe. Much softer and aromatic. The wood is well integrated. Seems at its peak now.

Still dark purple red. Expressive nose of black cherries, black olives and Provencal herbs. Thick, full bodied, well structured but soft too. A huge wine.

Nottingham Offline (Harts Restaurant, Nottingham): Quite manurey on the nose, almost smelling of drains. Then there's some licoricey black fruit. Seen more oak than the first, and I rather like the classy feel that that has given to the palate, though perhaps it's a bit tamed too.

Clos Pegau 1994 - right on opening the wine seemed tired but with air the fruit emerged - classic case of wines really need to interact with air to show their best. Very tannic structure, ripe aged cherry and leather. Has a savoury element reminiscent of the Vieux Telegraphe 1994 but with less opulence. Drinks well now but will hold. Excellent. 91 points at Dean and Rosie's"
