Description

The lot cosists of three Paul Jaboulet wines from the 1995 vintage:-

Two bottle of 1995 Paul Jaboulet Cornas.
One bottle of 1995 Paul Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Domaine de Thalabert.


Despite the lightening of some of Jaboulet's other wines,especially their Chateauneuf du Pape Les Cedres and their Gigondas,this firm seems content to produce two cuvees of big,brawny,beefy Cornas.
The 1995 Cornas displays copious amounts of pepper,earth,tar,and spicy scents,as well as licorice and black fruit notes,with medium body and moderate tannin.

The most recent tasting note of the Cornas 1995 on CellarTracker is:-

"Wow,what a lovely surprise.This was far fuller and richer than I'd anticipated and indeed ran the St.Pierre (the Jaboulet single vineyard Cornas) close.Good dark red fruit,quite polished though still showing a touch of Cornas sauvage,fresh with nicely balanced acidity,tannins pretty much resolved;decent length and very positive finish.Splendid for what it is".

Jaboulet's red Crozes-Hermitage,called Domaine de Thalabert,is indisputably among the finest wines of the appellation.It can in fact taste and smell like a lighter-weight Hermitage.
The 1995 is excellent.It exhibits a deep ruby/purple color,medium body,a good spicy,herb,licorice,and cassis-scented nose,excellent fruit,and an up-front forward style.
