Utterly lip-smacking auslese from Hanno Zilliken. This has slightly more body perhaps than a Mosel, and hugely satisfying flavour and persistency.

This is Justerini's note:

"Very pale gold. You are immediately hit by the classic, tell-tale Saar smokiness on this 1995, a little petrol, lime skin, yellow plum - really fine fruit. The palate is all about finesse and balance, with citrus zest fruit, smoke, white flowers, very fine honey and a very delicate minerality all seamlessly woven together on a structure that remains lively, yet softened by almost 20 years in the bottle. Persistent, and also wonderfully fresh on the finish, age has transformed its youthful sweetness into pure flavour. A wonderful Saar Riesling."
