Description

Only 99 days to Christmas...time once again to be thinking of life's little luxuries and picking up a bargain along the way...?

From an original wooden case and all in perfect order. 12 half bottles

The 40 hectares are planted with 78% Semillon, 17% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Muscadelle. Owned since 1936 by France's largest mortgage lender Le Crédit Foncier.

1997 was an excellent year for dessert wines, less so for the reds - often the case.

In 2000 Michael Broadbent MW wrote of this wine
"18 months in barrel. The colour lime with gold highlights; nose that conjured up milk chocolate; very sweet, quite attractive with some flesh and fat. An inexpensive unassuming wine, clearly quite good in this vintage".

7/18/2011 - DBKITC WROTE: 92 Points
Deep golden. Pure, sweet botrytis mixed with orange pith, egg custard and vanilla. Rich, full bodied with excellent finishing precision. Lovely créme brûlée flavour paired perfectly with Denise's dessert. Really very good and comes in above expectations. (92)

4/23/2008 - KEITH COOPER WROTE:
This was the last bottle out of eight at a tasting of Bordeaux wines at the Whitewater Valley Wine Society. This was corn yellow in colour with yeasty botrytis on the nose and flavours of honey and tangerine skins; another sublime experience!

Curiously the then owners deigned not to participate in the 1855 competition to establish a hierarchy in Sauternes/Barsac along with all the other principal areas of Bordeaux. A bit of a ricket in retrospect!

There are 12 half-bottles offered on a 'Buy Them Now' basis.
