James Suckling. (1997 Italian blind retrospective.Web 2007).

A more recent tasting note of this wine on CellarTracker:-

"Decanted for about an hour.Deep red color.Very complex nose, more Bordeaux like than Brunello, with dark red fruit and damp wood.Palate is rich, the acidity is lower than typical, soft tannin, but very structured;long finish. The surprise came about an hour and a half later;an explosion of perfume of dark red fruit, blackberry, forest floor, and violets, with full silky, silky palate and seamless long finish".
(94 Points).

CellarTracker. (17/8/2013).

"A fundamental rule with respect to Tuscan wines is to buy all the 1997s and 1999s that you can afford. Both are extraordinary vintages of ripeness and richness that should surpass the finest wines produced in such great years as 1990 and 1985.1997 was a spectacular vintage of exceptionally high quality, especially for Brunello di Montalcino and central Tuscany".

Robert Parker. (Parker's Wine Buyer's Guide. Sixth Edition).
