Description

Along with Chasse Spleen and Maucaillou, possibly the finest estate in the Moulis appellation. This is "classy stuff".

Two good clean bottles with levels well into the necks, complete labels and chateau embossed capsules.

Robert Parker notes:

Robert Parker 88 Drink: 2002 - 2016
The 1998's dark ruby/purple color is accompanied by a sweet nose of cranberries, blackberries, minerals, and toasty oak. The wine is medium to full-bodied, with excellent texture, fine depth, and sweet tannin in the finish. As always, it is a wine of class and length. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2016.

Wine Advocate #128
Apr 2000 Robert Parker (88-90) Drink: 2006 - 2020
Opaque purple-colored, with sweet black currant fruit, minerals, and smoky aromas, this dense, full-bodied, muscular effort exhibits some of the vintage's high tannin, but seems better balanced than many of its more famous neighbors. The wine is long, rich, and powerful. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2020.

Some recent Cellartracker notes:

12/4/2014 - md20 Likes this wine: 90 Points
Beautiful expressive nose. Medium body with initially acid present. The wine is particularly suitable as an excellent accompaniment to food. Beautiful, mature Bordeaux with still existing fruit. Is certainly not a flatterer, looks more artisanal, what a proper Bordeaux freak likes 90/100 -2020

seems younger than its 16 years with a vivid rubin colour. Typical Bordeaux-style with red berries at first and then leather and liquorice in oaky background. Medium to long finish. Drink now and do not wait

31/8/2013 - drjb Likes this wine: 91 Points
Deep crimson red. Nose classic lifted nose of blackcurrant, cedar and cigar box. Touches of liquorice and fresh flowers. Palate medium weight and well defined fruit character. Great length and savoury finish. Well balanced and complex for appellation and year. Now open and mature. Great food wine. 91.
