Black label is the Iconic Wolf Blass blend. It has won the prestigious Jimmy Watson Trophy an unprecedented four times since the first vintage in 1973, and more than 230 gold medals. The 1998 vintage speaks for itself, winning the JWT ( the record 4th time ), two further trophies & nine gold medals on the Australian show circuit.
This highly acclaimed vintage has produced a cracker. Initially brooding, but with time in the glass, unleashes a maelstrom of muscular but perfumed blackcurrant, blackberry & black cherry fruit. Seamlessly integrated creamy, mochachino oak & ripe supporting tannins let the powerful, very persistant fruit do the talking. Terrific intensity & length, undoubtedly a wine of supreme grace that will drink well for years to come. James Haliday 96 pts.
