Description

6 bottles of 1999 'Domaine De Rochepertuis' by Jean Lionnet

Carefully stored since removal from bond, levels are excellent and this is drinking very well indeed.

About the wine, Berry Brothers and Rudd says "Jean and Veronique Lionnet have 10 hectares of vines in Cornas and 2.5 hectares in St. Péray. Jean took over the domaine from his father in 1978 and has been heavily influenced by his friend and neighbour Jean-Luc Colombo in his winemaking style. Rochepertuis is his top wine and is named after a craggy rock in the vineyards.

Yields are low for Cornas and the fruit is 100% destemmed prior to fermentation. The wine is then matured for 12 months in barriques, 20% of which are new. The wine oozes sweet, concentrated black fruits and are classic examples of the new wave wines being produced in Cornas today."

Jamie Goode / Wineanorak says of the 1999 "Ripe, firm, spicy nose with dusty fruit. The palate is midweight, dense, chewy and spicy. Nicely structured in a traditional style. Very good+"

JLL says of the 1999 "**** sustained, brewed nose - black fruit/tar/woods; tight-knit palate, crunchy fruit, potential. Grip, balance good. Stimulating oil/black flavour. Esp 2005/06 on. 2016/19"
