Description

"This estate's flagship wine, Hermitage La Chapelle, merits its world-renowned reputation. The promising 1999 Hermitage La Chapelle exhibits an impressive purple color as well as a dense, sweet bouquet of minerals, cassis, licorice, and spice box. Full-bodied and concentrated, it is not a blockbuster, but it is beautifully knit, with layered cassis flavors. Although soft at present, there are abundant quantities of underlying tannin. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2020" Robert Parker

“Jaboulet’s view of its most famous wine seems to have changed. Although the concentrated, dense tannins and big black fruit flavours are still there, it has lost the huge brooding presence of past vintages, and now has a veneer of sophistication with super ripe fruit, plums and dark jam tastes.” 94 points Wine Enthusiast
