"Giorgio Rivetti displays a masterful touch,whether he is making Barbera,Barbaresco,or his proprietary red wine,Pin.Rivetti's blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Nebbiolo,the 1999 Monferrato Rosso Pin,is an exotic,ripe,luxuriously intense effort,displaying extravagent flavors that border on excess.It is voluptuously textured,with terrific aromas of red and black fruits,smoke,and new oak,while there is a tendency to think of this as an internationally styled offering,Nebbiolo gives the wine a finesse and complexity not found in most new-breed wines.Its texture,richness,and thickness are a total turn-on.Who knows how it will age,but certainly it is impossible to resist at present.My instincts suggest drinking it over the next 5-6 years,but it may be uncommonly long-lived".

Upon opening,the whole kitchen was filled with beautiful leathery notes,red fruit,dry earth,sumi-ink,and a healthy bit of funk.The nose of this Pin is a very fine specimen.
On the palate,it is strutting its stuff with a precise constitution.Warm-blooded fruit over dry earth and clear dark-cherry compote.I love the mature Western-style drama in this bottle:some barrels,a cow standing near,tobacco,something unwashed,sunshine,leather...tannins medium +,acidity medium +,medium-body and perfect on its own,with Italian food or with Italian cheese".
