"For readers fortunate enough to latch onto the super-expensive Chateauneuf du Pape Le Secret des Sabon, the 2000 may not be as profound as the 1998, but it is a terrific effort. A deep plum/purple color is accompanied by subtle notes of pepper, spice, truffles, earth, smoked meats, prunes, and a wealth of black currant and cherry fruit. Although full-bodied, rich, and concentrated, with majestic layers of flavor that unfold on the palate, the 2000 remains closed and tannic, so patience is suggested."

Tons of complexity as well. Burgundian nose, rusty color, ketchup, red and dark fruit, herbs de provence, asian spices. Comes across as sweet though dry. Delicious and harmonious. Seek this out! (199 views)

Popped 3hrs in advanced. My first secret! Vibrant, medium ruby red. Nose is powerful and intense, slightly lower tone than the Rayas with herbs, spices, dark chocolate, charcoal, grill meat as well as cherry liquor and blackcurrant. Full bodied, highly concentrated sweet dark fruits along with spices, smoke meat, roasted herbs that is complex and wonderfully balance and flirting with impeccable precision and finesse. Very impact and expansive on the palate with good lushness, purity and freshness. The detail finished is stunningly long, almost endless with dried fig paste, lots of haw flakes aftertaste. This great juice is full of finesse and is hauntingly delicious and complete, so much so that almost everyone vote this as their WOTN, including myself. (977 views)

Tasted by canan on 4/9/2010 & rated 96 points: Sabon Prestige/Secret Vertical (Restaurant AOC): A beautiful nose with pine and toasted coffee but also a lot of manure with just a hint of leather. Packed with meat notes and even some wet fur.
The palate has a good intensity with un-evolved dark plum fruit. Loads of tannins and acidity. Very animalistic.

Dark red. Strong and very interesting scents of butter and popcorn, and with a faint whiff of Dijon mustard. Sweet, seductive, and deliciously light on its feet with great intensity and huge glycerin levels, this wine is chewy, dense and concentrated, yet stylish and elegant. Brilliantly structured and superb for drinking now. Harmonious, elegant, big and chewy, and all that in the same package! A great wine. 96 points (2408 views)"
