Tasted by fingers on 11/28/2008 & rated 90 points: A beautiful deep reddish-gold, looks like cognac. Sweet aroma of apricots, pineapple, perfumed soap in average supply. Palate confirms the bouquet and adds in petrol and glycerine, fig, raisin, mango, prune, and what I can only describe as candy corn. Very long on finish with lasting notes that give the fruit a dried, fruit roll-up aftertaste. A nice variation on a sticky theme (5+12+16+7) = 90
Tasted by bigmay on 3/29/2008 & rated 92 points: Beautiful botrytis nose with some orange rind and clove. Amazing round full mouthfeel with orange, spice, honey/butterscotch, long delicious finish. Paired amazingly with Roaring 40s bleu. Tasted by Medo on 6/19/2007 & rated 90 points: Had this the second time in a few weeks: This is a well made sweet/dessert wine from Oz. Very nice amber color. Not over hyped sweet, the well integrated acidity balanced everything to a rounded and smooth mouthfeel. Fine flavors of honeysuckle, candied/dried apricots and peaches with hints of pineapple and tropic citrus. Even some petrol and burned rubber aspects come to my mind. Overall this is a nice effort from d'Arenberg and at 15€ a good QPR as well.
