2001 was a very good vintage for Alsace and David Schildknecht states in the Wine Advocate that the overall quality was excellent.
I cannot find a Wine Advocate tasting note for the Trimbach wines in 2001,but the last two tasting notes on CellarTracker for the Pinot Gris Reserve Personelle for that vintage are as follows:-

"Wine of the night by a whisker over the '94 Trimbach Gewurz SGN.This had it all and was in a very good place.Beautiful nose,lychee,lemon oil,diesel,golden delicious apple,pear,mineral.On the palate,lychee,pear,tangerine,meyer lemon,wet rock.Crisp sweet finish that goes on for a long time".
