Description

"The old-fashioned labels on these wines suggest history, and,in fact, the Kay family's roots in the McLaren Vale go back at least five generations.Their wines are among the most individualistic and impressive wines I have recently tasted in Australia.Possessing undeniable character and individuality, they should be hugely popular in this country. There are just 850-900 cases of each of these cuvees".

Robert Parker. (Parker's Wine Buyer's Guide. Sixth Edition).

The "Block 6" cuvee is the flagship wine of Kay Brothers winery. However I cannot find a Parker winetasting note on this vintage. For a similar great vintage(the 1998 vintage) he awarded the "Block 6" cuvee 98+ points. However below is the latest tasting note of this wine on CellarTracker (A US and Australian Shiraz wine tasting):-

"Another good showing, with subtle eucalyptus, oak, blueberries, chocolate and picks up a buttery note on the finish.Balanced wine overall and should drink well for 5 more years.Since it is drinking well now,I would not push your luck on aging this over 5 years. The Group's wine of the night".
(93 Points).

Wineglas. (CellarTracker. 6th November 2011).

The latest vintages of this wine listed on Wine-Searcher are selling for at least £50 per bottle (incl VAT).
