Description

From Cellartracker with an average of 93 points over 13 separate tasters - Cowinelover wrote, with 94 points on 1/11/2014 - "This bottle started out difficult. My Ah-so would not slide down the cork because a light amount of wine had seeped out and cemented the cork in (with residual sugar). Using the Rabbit to remove the cork destroyed it, and I had a bad feeling the wine would be corked. I was in for a surprise. The color of this wine could be best described as pineapple juice, with a cloudiness in the glass reinforcing the pineapple color and viscosity. On the nose, there was also a strong predominance of pineapple, with lychee, Key limes and pear chiming in the background. On the palate this is very sweet, but not cloying as the acidity is vibrant and fresh. The palate holds a sweet pineapple with a viscous texture. The lime and pear notes hang in the mid palate, and the citrus crispness of the pineapple closes this out. A nice long finish, this is a classy effort. The acidity should hold this for a long time."

My own take on this wine after loving the first five bottles from the case is "Just a very stunning wine with that lovely, bubblegum and pineappley sweetness with a tiny drive of acid to keep it fresh. Superbly moreish. How come German wines are so under-appreciated? Shame on everyone - Try this and change your minds!None of my corks have been in the least stuck! Try with a wonderful home-made lemon-meringue pie. Simply gorgeous."
