Description

Allen Meadows Burghound 89-91

2009 Domaine Chandon de Briailles Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru) Burghound, 5/1/2011, May 2011, Allen Meadows (web) 89-91 An extremely ripe nose of spiced plum and background hints of prune and violets introduces rich and opulent flavors that are given lift by the presence of ample minerality on the detailed, energetic and rather firm finish. The nose is riper than I prefer yet there is good punch and freshness to the finish. (drink starting 2017)

John Gilman View from the Cellar 93

2009 Domaine Chandon de Briailles Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières (France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru) View From the Cellar, 11/1/2010, Nov/Dec 2010, John Gilman 92 The 2009 les Lavières from Chandon de Briailles is a beautiful bottle of wine in the making, and I am completely baffled as how this could be at 13.8 percent alcohol, but there is no denying just how good this bottle will be in a few years’ worth of bottle age. The bouquet is deep, pure and “cool” in profile, as it offers p scents of cherries, blood orange, a touch of red currant, lovely soil tones, Savigny spices, orange peel and a bit of violet in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full and very, very fresh for its relatively high octane level, with super focus and balance, ripe tannins and a very long, impressively mineral finish. A terrific wine. (drink 2015-2040)
