2009 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru) View From the Cellar, 11/1/2010, Nov/Dec 2010, John Gilman 94 The 2009 Gouges Pruliers shows off the beautiful mix of the vintage’s inherent elegance and the broad shoulders of this fine premier cru. The dynamite nose jumps from the glass in a very refined and sappy blend of black cherries, a nice touch of blood orange, classy minerality, woodsmoke, a hint of gamebirds and a pungent topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and properly structured- though again with an unbelievably suave profile for a young vintage of Pruliers, with great mid-palate depth, stunning focus and balance and a very, very long, pure and ripely tannic finish. Another great wine in the making. (drink 2018-2060)

2009 Domaine Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru Les Pruliers (France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru) Burghound, 1/31/2011, January 2011, Allen Meadows (web) 91-93 As it usually is, this is aromatically more elegant with really lovely spice and game notes that add breadth to the ripe yet cool wild red berry fruit aromas. The rich, pure and quite generous medium-bodied flavors possess fine mid-palate concentration as the dry extract stains the palate and pushes the shaping tannins to the background on the solidly persistent finish. I very much like this as it's finer than the Porrets even if it's not more powerful or longer. (drink starting 2019)
