Description

An opportunity to have a comparison tasting of the two top Barolos from last year's Decanter magazine tasting of 124 Barolos from the great 2010 vintage.
The lot consists of two bottles of Barolo (Decanter winners in August 2015) from the legendary 2010 vintage;-

One bottle of 2010 Brezza Sarmassa Barolo.
One bottle of 2010 Cascina Adelaide Fossati Barolo.

These two wines were unanimously adjudged the best two Barolos (out of 134) by Ian D'Agata,Michael Garner and Emily O'Hare and awarded the highest marks (both 95 Points).


"2010 is the greatest young Barolo vintage I have tasted in 18 years of visiting the region and a lifetime,buying,cellaring,and drinking these wines".

These wines also got awarded similar 95 Points ratings from Antonio Galloni and Wine Spectator:-

"Dark cherries,pine,menthol,licorice,smoke and underbrush all take shape in the 2010 Barolo Sarmassa.The darkest and most imposing of the Brezza Barolos,the Sarmassa is backed up by firm tannins that ensure the wine will drink well for a number of years.This is the most tightly wound of the Brezza 2010s,so it will require a bit of patience.This is a dense and deeply satisfying Barolo from Enzo Brezza.In 2010,Brezza did not produce his top Barolo,Bricco Sarmassa.All the best fruit went into the straight Sarmassa".
