Description

This wine was awarded third place in Wine Spectator's "Top 100 Wines" in 2014.
It is considered to be the best ever vintage that Chryseia has produced.The Chryseia is one of the new-wave cult Portuguese table wines and the project began in 1998,when the Symington family partnered the former Chateau Cos D'Estournel owner,Bruno Prats to produce a top-quality Douro table wine.The 2011 Chryseia is their highest scoring version yet,balancing finesse and power in the best vintage for a generation for this region.The wine is a blend of two indigenous varieties,Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca,sourced from the vineyards of Quinta de Roriz and Quinta da Perdiz,and is aged in 100% new French oak barrels.

"An elegant and monolithic red,pure and powerful,with hints of lushness to the concentrated red plum,raspberry and dark plum flavors...filled with a black olive and baker's chocolate notes,backed up by grippy tannins".

"A powerful,concentrated wine,it has great density and structure.It shows the quality of the vintage,rich and fruity,while preserving the elegance and poise that is typical of Chryseia.The result of a partnership between the Symington family and Bruno Prats of Bordeaux,it has a smooth,ripe,black fruit character underpinned by firm tannins.It needs several years to age,so drink from 2017".
