2020 Take Six Haut-Médocs Case stored at The Wine Society

A six-bottle case containing one bottle of each of the following red wines:

Château Beaumont, Haut-Médoc
Chateau Cissac, Haut-Medoc
Chateau Caronne Sainte Gemme, Haut-Médoc Château Sénéjac, Haut-Medoc
Château Belgrave, Haut-Medoc
Château Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc

Château Beaumont, Haut-Médoc 2020:
Another top-drawer vintage from this ever-popular cru bourgeois. It combines supple fruit and spice with the cool freshness demonstrated by the best wines of the vintage. Drink window to 2036.

Château Cantemerle, Haut-Médoc 2020:
This is one of the standout wines in 2020, which showed beautifully on each occasion that we tasted it. Cantemerle is located at the southern end of the Médoc and in good vintages like 2020 produces wines with Margaux-like perfume and poise. Superb value. Drink window 2028 to 2042.

Château Caronne Sainte Gemme, Haut-Médoc 2020:
This had attractive freshness and lift combining nicely with its ripe cassis and fleshy persistent finish. The blend is 61% cabernet sauvignon, 34% merlot and 5% petit verdot. Proper left bank claret which always provides excellent value. Drink window 2028 to 2037.

Château Cissac, Haut-Médoc 2020:
From the Vialard family stable, this has been a Wine Society favourite for decades, delivering consistently good claret and offering great value for money. Made mainly from cabernet sauvignon and from vineyards between Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac, the elegant fresh fruit has easy balance and provides benchmark left bank Bordeaux. Drink window to 2038.

Château Belgrave, Haut-Médoc 2020:
Belgrave is the least well-known of the Haut-Médoc`s four classed growths, yet it consistently turns out unshowy but attractive wines from its well-sited vineyards bordering Saint-Julien. This is a classically structured Belgrave with firm, densely textured fruit and plenty of grip on the savoury finish. A keeper. Drink from 2028 to 2040.

Château Sénéjac, Haut-Médoc 2020:
From the same stable as Saint-Julien favourite Château Talbot, Sénéjac consistently produces mouthwatering wines, offering very good value – 2020 is no exception. With a majority of cabernet sauvignon (54%) lending freshness, and fully ripe, plump merlot (34%) adding volume and flesh, and equal parts cabernet franc and petit verdot giving structure, this is harmonious and succulent. Drink to 2038.
