Lot 1
Packed individually.
The gentle pop of the cork told us there was still life in this grand old lady. A gorgeous bright golden amber colour....beautiful clarity. The bubbles were small and gentle. A slightly muted nose. No oxidisation. Perhaps some toffee apple and poached pears. Very clean. The fruit and the acidy are still in harmony and balance. Neither overshadowing the other. The fizz is soft and most importantly there! The fruit remains fresh with an aged nutty richness. People suggest drinking old Champagne with food. They are 100% right, something creamy perhaps, maybe some cured meats? (Dreweatts 2026)
The continuous provenance is not known, but have been lying in a fine Wiltshire cellar for a number of years. The labels, gift boxes and foils suggest they may have been a later release from the Estate.
