Description

Probably approaching its 50th annivsary, here we have an escapee from a previous era when one talked about '70° proof' instead of '40% abv' and 26 and 2/3 fluid ounces rather than 70 centilitres.

The distillers Buchannan of Glasgow (probably now just a name on a plate in some huge corporate entity) were one of the original promoters of Scotch Whisky in the 1870s and '80s riding on the tide of enthusiasm for all things Scottish lead by the Queen.

This fine old bottle has been unearthed in a cellar in Hampshire (along with the Old Parr also up for sale). The capsule is of the clip style which would be unknown now to anyone under 40.

The starting price of £12 is less than that of a standard bottle in a supermarket today.
