This wonderful 1970 La Conseillante is drinking wonderfully well. The recent Cellar Tracker reviews underline this:

11/30/2013 - HOTSPUR21 LIKES THIS WINE: 94 Points
Refined gunpowder, sooty, young, hot cherries, some shashlik, rather spicy than fruity, great finish.

10/28/2012 - JEFF LEVE WROTE: 92 Points
This was my last bottle of this vintage of La Conseillante. I wish I had more. It was showing more fruit and freshness than I would have anticipated. Plummy, lush, round, textures, floral aromas with hints of cocoa and a soft, polished, fruit filled finish are found in well stored bottles of this wine. However, there is no reason to age this further.

Robert Parker gave this wine 93 points in 1996 and stated '(it) exhibits the sweet, truffle, caramel, mocha, jammy black cherry, and toasty nose of this renowned Estate, as well as sweet, round concentrated flavours and a lush, velvety texture, with a heady, alcoholic, rich finish......10+ years to enjoy this stunningly proportioned La Conseillante'

I must inform you that some external cork erosion is apparent (see photograph) going down several millimetres. There are no signs of weeping so I can only conclude that this will have no affect on the contents. Otherwise the cork appears to be in fine condition.
