Description

The Bernard family started making wine at Beauchene in 1794 and in 1971 Michel Bernard took over the winemaking at the domaine.
The cepage of the Chateauneuf du Pape wine is 65% Grenache,25% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre.The vines are from 40 to 80-years-old and the wine is matured in both foudre and small oak barrels for about 12 months.Robert Parker maintains that there is considerable potential at this estate,given its old vines,location,its outstanding exposition,terroir,and limestone soil base.


"In the south,Chateauneuf du Pape enjoyed a splendid vintage of great ripeness and concentration.Unlike their siblings in the north,there is no problem with depth or richness in the finest 2000 southern Rhones.Stylistically they are similar to 1999,with high alcohol,low acidity,and concentrated,ripe,fleshy,sumptuous personalities.It is the third consecutive impressive vintage for this sector.Readers will love these wines,which although different in style,will rival the prodigeous 1998s".
