'A bit of a dark horse since most 1976's are unlovable. A lovely cassis and pencil-lead nose suggesting good ripeness. Superb balance and finesse on the palate that indeed is much riper than expected. Smooth with velvety tannins. Maybe more refined than Ducru 1981? An excellent wine and certainly great value. Quite similar to the 1975. Drinking now. Tasted November 2001. 90-92pts'
