Description

Opened for a birthday dinner and paired with a plat principal of wagyu beef stew. Cork was a little crumbly and it took two tries to get it out safely. Colour was garnet in the centre with a gradual brownish tinge going outwards. First sip was a bit thin but you could tell this was just waiting to unfurl its beauty in due time.

After an hour aeration, things were ready to go. A lot of floral notes of lily and rose petal from the get go. As the night went on, pipe tobacco, rubber, new shoes leather, garam masala came wafting from the glass and it was joy just sniffing this wine. Fruit was subdued on the palate. I didn’t get the tart red fruits or the rich black fruits and it was a more gentle plum and cassis notes. Tannins were silky with a hint of wood and low yet present acidity. Medium weight in the mouth with medium-long satisfying finish.
