Description

Owned by the Pagès family since 1970, Fourcas Dupré is the leading château of Listrac, a commune inland from St Julien, whose wines succeed particularly well in hot years.Château Fourcas Dupré is one of three to bear the name of Fourcas, a smallhamlet just outside Listrac itself (the other two being Fourcas Hosten andFourcas Loubaney). Winemaker Patrice Pagès (nephew of Marc Pagès) runs this 44 hectare property. Vines, averaging 25 years, are on soils of gravel andsandstone. The blend of 44% cabernet sauvignon, 44% merlot, 10% cabernet franc and 2% petit verdot is vinified under temperature control in a combination of wooden and stainless steel vats. It is then aged for 12 to 18 months inbarrique (one third new).
