Description

Wine Advocate # 146
Apr 2003 Robert Parker 92 Drink: 2006 - 2020 $75-$105 (28)
Probably the finest Giscours made since the 1975, this black/purple-colored 2000 offers up terrific notes of camphor, creosote, blackberry, and cassis jam intermixed with notions of smoke and earth. Spicy, with low acidity, a big, rich, fleshy, full-bodied palate, outstanding texture, and a long, pure finish, it is, to reiterate, one of the best Giscours produced over the last 25 years. A sleeper of the vintage, it is still available for a realistic price.

Neal Martin 93-95 Drink 2008 - $75-$105
Impressive at en primeur with admirable concentration, though a little more coarse after bottle with a metallic note on the finish. Then in November 2004, a wine in its stride. This has built upon its initial promise. The nose is very intense, instantly reminding me of hot, buttered burnt toast mixed with pure blackberry and cedar. Great definition. Good concentration on the palate, well-knit new oak. Very pure, very stylish, very Margaux. Just has sublime poise and refinement. A complete success. Drink from 2008.
