Description

Chateau Magdelaine was a Premier Grand Cru Classé "B" estate in the appelation St Emilion Grand Cru which was absorbed into Chateau Belair-Monange in 2011, making bottles like this increasingly rare. To many, it is the grower champagne equivalent of Bordeaux, with a hyper focused and boutique team and some of the greatest terroir in the region.

Bottle is in exceptional condition, having been stored in an undeground cellar since release and only until a couple of months ago when removed and stored in a wine fridge.

Capsule pristine, label in excellent condition, fill excellent and above expectations.

2001 is a classical year in St Emilion, and thus this is singing. I've opened two prior bottles from the same bin, both have required decanting and thus have lots of life left! When they open up they are stellar and classic St Emilion, with the telltale limestone freshness still going right through it.
