Chateau Peby Faugeres Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, 1998

Chateau Peby Faugeres Grand Cru Classe, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Arrow

Description

Levels 11 BN or better, 1 VTS, labels soiled, 4 scuffed, 2 torn.

1998 was the first vintage at Chateau Peby Faugeres and produced just after the owner, Pierre Bernard Guisez passed away. He was known as Peby and was named in honour of him. From just 8 hectares, production was only 175 cases. Awarded 95 points by Robert Parker on release. A terrific effort, and one of the stars of the vintage, the 1998 boasts an opaque, thick looking, black/purple color in addition to gorgous aromatics consisting of blackberries, blueberries, smoke, minerals, and vanilla. Extremely full-bodied and rich, yet harmonious, with a seamless personality as well as beautifully integrated acidity and tannin, this blockbuster effort is one of the great surprises of the vintage - 2018 +.

From the cellars of an important Hampshire house.
