Le Bosquet des Papes

Nicolas Boiron, a giant of a man, has taken over from his father and lifted this estate to higher levels of concentration and refinement. This is very weighty and full with heaps of lovely rich fruit. 2011-2019. ST 91 pts.

Cuvee Reserve, Domaine Roger Sabon

Sabon is a common name in Chateauneuf and all are not necessarily related. The Roger Sabon style is one of silk-like softness belying considerable power. The wines are raised in oak of different orgins and sizes. What is striking is just how well the domaine understands the discipline so that the natural balance of the wine is always respected. 2009-2017. ST 91 pts.

Domaine des Bernardines, Chapoutier

Made from 95% Grenache with a little Syrah, all grown bio-dynamically, this has a wonderfully fruity presence made without the use of oak accentuating the fruit all the more. 2009-2018. ST 89 pts.

Chateau Mont Redon

Amazingly good value Chateauneuf. The 2005 is suitably rich and full bodied with a touch of loquorice. 2011-2019. ST 91 pts.

Domaine de la Roquette

The 2005 Roquette is on a scale not far below that of its stable mate at Vieux Telegraphe. Very rich and full bodied with a big tannic structure. Good value. 2010-2017. ST 91 pts.

Domaine Font de Michelle

Truly representative of the vintage: big boned, gloriously rich and succulent with a long sweet finish. 2011-2019. ST 89 pts.
