"Evokes fresh cherry, leather, tobacco, tea and spice notes. This is balanced toward the dry side, but lacks aggressive tannins. Nutmeg and cardamom accents chime in on the finish. Best from 2016 through 2022. 876 cases made. –BS" (WS)

"The Chianti Classico Riserva le Baroncole (with 3% Canaiolo) doesn’t show the same level of aromatic purity found in the 2010 edition of the wine. Oak tones land heavy over ripe fruit tones of prune and plum with some chopped greens or garden herb at the fringe. On the upside, the wine does a good job of painting a portrait of territory, with those telltale aromas of tilled earth and pressed blue flowers that are so typical of Sangiovese.

The Martini di Cigala family makes some of the most expressive and interpretive wines in Tuscany. One of the true standouts of the vintage is the 2010 Percarlo (100% Sangiovese) that beautifully captures a thrilling sense of power and elegance that work seamlessly together." (WA)

Winery Notes:
Chianti Classico Riserva Le Baroncole is made from 97% Sangiovese and 3% Canaiolo grapes.

The initial stages of its production are the same as for our Chianti Classico.

It is then aged in French oak barriques for a period which varies from 16 to 20 months, according to the vintage.

It is bottled unfiltered and held for a further six months, before it is released.

Le Baroncole is a wine of long ageing potential.
