Description

Jean-Paul has produced wonderful wines in 2009; picking his fruit relatively early and using traditional techniques he has managed to retain freshness. Lots of Christmas spices and garrigue notes, with a firm and ripe tannic structure, make this a serious and age-worthy wine

Terrific grenache-based wine. Fresh and welcoming nose: open bowl of dark berries, so fresh as to be pushing even into strawberry, suggestions also of bush, bramble. Fresh and dark-fruited on the palate, with movement into licorice and savory char, rocky bits. Restrained fruit tartness and sweetness balanced against equally restrained savory and bitter character. Not at all lumbering, macho, or overripe, but full of flavor. Composed. Delicious.

Expressive nose with notes of sagebrush, root beer, and raspberries. A kaleidoscope of flavor and texture development. A flirty hint of horse stable. Great tannins. Complex. I'm impressed. Ready to drink now with a short decant.

Tasted blind. Not as overripe and bitter as many 2009's. My first tasting of Bois de Boursan, and it will definately not be the last. Traditional style, Well made.

D1h. Berry red, red rim,5. Wonderful bouquet, intense dark fruits, garrigue, spicy herbs, meaty stuff, really complex. Intense harmonious palate, tannin, long spicy finish. Drink now and onwards
