Description

A half bottle of Cockburn 1955 vintage port bottled in Portugal for British Transport Hotels. Wax seal is damaged (see image) and level is top shoulder. I had a dozen of these and opened one over the Christmas period with a lower level than the one on offer. On day 1 the weight, sweetness and alcohol were very evident with a flavour of dried figs; over a week the flavour developed immensely, culminating in a deep, rich flavour of Christmas pudding - raisins and figs - with a delicious long aftertaste. A superb port! Michael Broadbent gives it 4 stars which it certainly deserves.
