Description

Background:
This is the most impressive and beautiful cellar in the Languedoc, set out in the manner of a Bordeaux cru classé. The fine château, near Montpellier, stands on a plateau that overlooks the Languedoc plain and is surrounded by its vines. Gérard Bru was a local boy who had left to make his fortune in electronics always intending to return in his forties to make wine. No expense has been spared and this is reflected in the outstanding quality of his wines.

Viticulture: The grapes come from 100 hectares of vineyard planted on a stony plateau to the east of Montpellier. Wind and sun ensure the grapes here are particularly healthy. Yields are naturally low helping to make wines of great intensity and concentration.

Vinification: The wine is made, à la Bordelaise, in large oak vats with pigeage, the punching down the cap of grape skins and other solids during the fermentation to extract greater colour and tannins, and long ageing in barrel.

Recommended drinking: Now to 2014

Tasting Note:
Fabulous Languedoc red: rich, ripe, full bodied but with certain finesse.
