Description

These champagnes are from Christie’s WWA Wine Sale last year. Hence, the white labels on the bottles. They’ve been stored in my wine room since, so should be in excellent condition.

Domaine B. Girardin "Vibrato" is a distinctive Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut Champagne crafted by winemaker Sandrine Girardin at her family estate Essi Avellan. Formerly known as Champagne Bernard Girardin, the estate is located in Mancy, just south of Épernay, France.

Sandrine is deeply passionate about music, which is why every single cuvée produced by the domaine features a musical title representing the "musical expression" of the terroir. Vibrato was her very first creation, debuted in 1994 when she was only 21 years old.

Technical Overview

Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay (Blanc de Blancs).Classification: Extra Brut (Very low dosage, focusing on crisp and pure expressions).

The Terroir Blend: The defining trait of this cuvée is the juxtaposition of grapes harvested from two completely different and distant terroirs: Mancy: Provides a sharp, frank, highly saline, and mineral profile.Vitry-en-Perthois: Offers a warmer, fat, rich, and exotic fruit profile.

Tasting Profile & Sensory NotesBecause of its unique geographical blend, Vibrato transitions fluidly from a crisp mineral dynamic to a rich pastry profile:

Nose: Opens with highly aromatic, ripe tropical fruit notes like pineapple and papaya, shifting quickly into buttery, rich scents reminiscent of brioche, panettone, and fresh pastry.

Palate: Highly complex and creamy with an initial dynamic bite. It tastes of green pear, apple, and citrus, accented by savoury hints of star anise, minerals, and a highly persistent finish.

Structure: Evolved and full-bodied with a refined mousse (bubble structure) and an incredibly precise balance of low sugar and high acidity.
