About the wine:
Herrenweg de Turckheim is a warm, gravelly site well suited to Gewurztraminer, producing wines of aromatic intensity and richness.
Zind-Humbrecht’s Vendanges Tardives wines are made from late-harvested grapes, concentrating sugars and flavours while retaining enough acidity for balance and long ageing.
The 1989 vintage was ripe and generous. It is a canonical year for late-harvest and botrytis affected styles. After more than three decades, this wine should be fully mature, offering classic Gewurztraminer aromas of rose petal, lychee, dried apricot and exotic spice, layered with honeyed, savoury tertiary notes developed through long bottle age. Sweetness should now be well integrated into the overall texture.
This is a contemplative, fully evolved Alsace sweet wine, best enjoyed slowly and lightly chilled.
