Description

Two bottles of Felton Road Pinot Noir from Central Otago, New Zealand from the 2007 vintage.

Produced and bottled by Felton Road Wines Ltd, Bannockburn. Grapes grown at our Bannockburn vineyards.

Immaculate condition, levels up behind the capsule, screwcaps in perfect condition, clean labels. These have been stored in perfect cellar conditions since receipt, and having tasted these every year with Christmas lunch, I can confidently say that if you're looking for top quality mature wine, you will not be disappointed.

Perfect with a traditional roast turkey at Christmas.



Tasting notes from Felton Road themselves:

Tasting Date: 15 January 2013

Restrained on the nose allowing perfume to lead the way; violets or roses, quite feminine tones underlayed by forest floor. The palate is plush and rewarding, rich and concentrated yet easy going. No lack of power or drive through the finish here, this is drinking wonderfully, but with years in hand.

Tasting Date: 30 May 2008

A very floral, perfumed, classic Pinot Noir nose: fruit, violets, spice and bramble, with nothing in excess. Creamy and weighty across the mid-palate, very flowing, almost juicy sweetness with just enough dusty tannins kicking in to complement a dark finish with hints of espresso and chocolate. Complete, complex and perhaps close to the ultimate expression for a Felton Road Pinot Noir.

Blend of Elms, Cornish Point and Calvert. Paler than most. 11 months in barrel and bottled March.

The richness of Bannockburn with the subtlety of the team there. Quite a bit of acidity. Their Bannockburn village equivalent. Friendly nose but with some burgundian mealiness. Not a leap out of the glass. You have to concentrate a bit! Easy, not especially concentrated but an easy drink with a dry finish. Lots of acidity. Lively finish.
