**Cellar Selection & Ranked #9 on the Top 100 of 1998** A gorgeous young thing--even better than I remember from barrel. This is an extremely fresh, floral and fruity young Port, full to medium in body and of medium sweetness, with a ripe and plummy aftertaste of good length. (4/1998)

Bright, dark ruby. Exotic aromas of cassis, black raspberry, cappuccino, cinnamon and mace hint at a liqueur-like sweetness. Very rich and sweet on the palate; plush of texture and rather soft, but extremely concentrated. Really superb inner-mouth flavors. With powerful buffering extract and thick, compelling fruit, this port thoroughly hides its alcohol. The tannins coat the teeth. Delicious. (4/1998)

Sweeter fruit, ripe and more youthful than the '91. Coffee again but also dark choc/cocoa. Pronounced and tightly woven fruit character - more red than black with distinctive sweet spice character on the lengthy finish. Needs a while yet before opening to its full potential. (RH) (9/2008)
