Description

Older bottles of Chateau Musar are often an intriguing mouthful of wine.The unusual blend of Cabernet Sauvignon,Carignan,Cinsault,and Grenache grapes needs time to soften,and with age,the wine shows its true glory.
There is no doubt that age in bottle adds to the suppleness,complexity,and finesse of Chateau Musar.Often compared to a Chateauneuf du Pape or a fine old Burgundy.


"Decanted for 2 hours at the restaurant.Medium red color with pale edges;lovely mature,rich,cherry and horseradish nose;tasty,tart cherry,horseradish,tangy,medium-plus finish (I poured this as a mystery wine,after letting it decant for two hours).Guesses included older Chateauneuf du Pape and 2000 Clos des Papes.It even garnered two votes for "Wine of the Flight".

"The '95 built in intensity and complexity as the night went on.The conversation was lively,but when people smelled the Musar,they would inevitably pause in thought.It was startling,arresting - it reached out,it grabbed you by the shoulders,stared deeply into your eyes and said something true about the future.I would not change anything about this wine".
