Description

2019 was an exceptional vintage for Burgundy, producing elegant, intense and richly perfumed wines. These vineyards are planted on fine, stony soils towards the south of Gevrey, yielding a 100% Pinot Noir of finesse and elegance, scoring 90+. According to Wine Advocate (Parker), it is: ‘supple and charming, Mortet's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Ma Cuvee wafts from the glass with notes of red berries, plums and exotic spices, framed by a deft application of classy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with melting tannins and succulent acids, it's already drinking well’. Flowery descriptions apart, it tastes lovely and this was a limited production and hard to find now in the UK, but £100+ (equivalent) per bottle in the US and continental Europe. With his 2019 Charmes Chambertin already topping £500 duty paid, any ‘Ma Cuvees’ that come onto the UK retail market in the next decade are likely to be priced at > £150 for each bottle.nnThese two are from my climate controlled cellar having previously been stored in City Bond chill store and are in perfect condition.n
