Description

A delicious example of a top-notch Barolo. Made from the Nebbiolo grape varietal, in the region of Piedmont (Piemonte) in the north of th country, it exhibits all the hallmarks we know and love about Barolo:

James Suckling awarded the 2012 an impressive 96 points, noting:
"Wonderful Cannubi with depth, texture and style. Full and harmonized. Superb length and beauty. A joyous wine that shows the class of the vintage and the great vineyard. Drink or hold."

Wine Enthusiast Magazine gave 93 points, saying:
"This structured wine opens with a quintessential Nebbiolo nose of wild berry, baking spice, grilled herb, fragrant blue flower and a balsamic note. The bracing palate delivers wild cherry, raspberry, clove, licorice and a smattering of chopped herb alongside brisk acidity and tightly knit tannins."

Finally, Monica Larner, writing for Wine Advocate, gave 91 points:
"This (Barolo Cannubi) is my favorite wine among Claudio Fenocchio's new releases. It shows an impressive level of intensity and an even, steady personality. This is a long-term proposition with round tones of cherry fruit, blackcurrant, spice, pressed rose and balsam herb. Dark minerals appear at the back. The wine delivers a firm tannic presence that should soften with time."

This fine example of a Barolo is drinking well now, but it will continue to develop and mature, in bottle, until around 2035, perhaps even longer.
