Description

Made by winemakers Michael Waugh and Chris Ringland at the Rockford winery in Barossa, the 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Roennfeldt Road (120 cases from 50-year old vines) was aged for three years in new French oak. Its 13.4% alcohol is modest by Barossa standards. An opaque purple color is followed by gorgeous aromas of blueberry and blackberry liqueur intermixed with flower, camphor, and vanilla scents. Marvelously rich and full-bodied, with a viscous texture, superb purity, and a multilayered, skyscraper personality, this is profound stuff! Anticipated maturity: 2005-2020. 94/100 Robert Parker

Scott M. Dinner Party (Home): Full deep black red color. Big nose of blueberry and chocolate. Nice ripe blueberry fruit on the palate. Good concentration.

Dark red. Scents of licorice, ink and tar coming out of the glass. I have raved about this wine before and it was every bit as good as on my two previous tries with it. Incredibly dense and with gobs and gobs of sweet ripe fruit with a fresh and complex delivery. This is simply a stunning wine with tremendous purity and punch yet not like being knocked out by Mike Tyson. Loved this wine!!

Dark red in the glass. Thick dense core. More earth here. And some grassy notes. Perhaps some leather. Greatness and profoundness is there.
