Paradis, a rare pleasure.

A flamboyant cognac, Paradis is the fruit of successive blends that combine several hundred exceptional eaux-de-vie aged from 25 to 130 years.

From its birth, each precious eau-de-vie has been matured exclusively in old casks of French Limousin oak, freed of their most powerful tannins to allow the discreet scents of the oak to slowly mingle with the delicate finesse of the eaux-de-vie until they reach their fullness.

To prepare this unique cognac, a single family of Cellar Masters has worked at the House of Hennessy since 1800. Maurice Fillioux, the sixth generation of this family, composed Paradis from eaux-de-vie matured by his father and grandfather.

Yann Fillioux, the present Cellar Master and the seventh generation of the family, selects the eaux-de-vie that today compose Paradis, patiently improving those that will be used by his successors.

This incomparable cognac’s creation is only made possible by the continuous quest for perfection and the uninterrupted transmission from generation to generation of the blends’ secret.

Tasting notes

Paradis belongs to a universe of exceptional cognac which draws one to the summits of pleasure: heady and sensual, crossed by spicy points or mellowed by fragrant bursts of dried flowers, it plays unceasingly on its aromatic paradoxes to present itself in successive waves of pleasure.

Paradis first of all lights up with a splendid coppery gold colour and a soft texture that evokes velvet.

Then, when one smells it, the first fragrances appear, complex and very rich with a palette of delicious scents. These conceal a subtle burst of pepper: spicy notes softened by the floral aroma expressing finesse and elegance. Several very slight hints of cardamon and cinnamon, and aromas of crystallized fruit follow the fragrance of dried roses. Other more complex fragrances, such as touches of honey, truffle or wild rose burst forth in subtle flashes, creating a veritable fireworks display for the senses.

Lastly, as Paradis is tasted, the spicy and crystallized fruit fragrances invade the palate in a masterly fashion. The intensity and strength in the mouth slowly develop releasing a bouquet of aromas whose complexity and finesse are more difficult to pin down than the aromas. Nothing is lost, everything gradually reveals itself, the aromas taking their place and organizing themselves in silky harmony, before leaving a long-lasting taste on the palate.
