Description

Bought four bottles from a north London wine merchant around 10 year ago and stored in my purpose built wine cupboard from purchase. See below for more information on Hill of Grace and the 2000 vintage.

Overview
The Hill of Grace is an 8ha single-vineyard with 4ha of shiraz planting, situated at the historic village of Parrot Hill 4km north-west of Henschke Cellars.

2000 Hill of Grace from Henschke emerges as a promising beacon for wine investors seeking mature Shiraz expressions - a symphony of notes formed through the passionate alliance of man, vine and earth. Truly unique, it unveils a different facet with every encounter, ever-intriguing and deeply moving - a testament to the preservation of grace beyond the constraints of time.

Secure your piece of this tale spun from old vines and witness as the story of Hill of Grace continues to unfold in your cellar over the coming years.

Set apart by an extraordinary climatic year for Australia's Eden Valley in 2000, this wine breathes life into a vintage tale of precise ripening conditions coupled with modest yields. Unraveling its narrative as it breathes, each layer uncovers unique climatic energy trapped within the bottle.

The highly sought-after Hill of Grace is the product of vines planted in the 1860s and is considered Australia s greatest single vineyard Shiraz.

Just to confirm the vintage is 1992 not 2000 Henschke Hill of Grace 1992 is a single-vineyard Shiraz from Eden Valley in the Barossa region of South Australia. Henschke is synonymous with fine winemaking in Australia. The family is one of the `First Families` - 10 of the country`s oldest and most respected family-owned, multi-generation wineries. The Hill of Grace single-vineyard Shiraz is the family`s flagship wine. Intense, concentrated and age-worthy, it is considered by many to be Australia`s greatest red wine. "Excellent vintage. A spicy and fragrant nose, perhaps the cooler January at work here, plenty of sage also in the mix, very concentrated and slightly more discreet than the 1991 and 1990. The palate has impressive concentration and cut, really bright and crisp with decent tannin ripeness and a juicy, sturdy and assertive drive through the finish. A great expression of fragrant, Eden Valley Shiraz." James Suckling, 2014
