1996 Keyneton Estate Shiraz/Cabernet/Merlot, Henschke, Eden Valley
On the nose the delicious fruitcake and spiced prune fruit of mature Shiraz. The striking palate is wonderfully expressive, dense and concentrated combining sweet-edged berry fruit and prune characters with an almost liquorice note of complexity.
This wine was purchased on a visit to Henschke vineyard in the famous Barossa valley, South Australia in the 90 s. It has remained in my personal possession and has always been looked after, stored appropriately and revered. I brought it back with me to England when we returned here as part of a small Australian collection 10 years ago and has been in storage ever since.
