Description

One perfectly cellared bottled of Jean Foillard - Cuvee 3.14, Morgon, 2017.

The estate s "Haute Couture" cuvée from the oldest vines. A rarity!

This generous, concentrated, rich and dense Morgon expresses wonderfully this great terroir, in this great vintage. These aromas of fresh black fruits, with these kirsch nuances are very characteristic. 100% Gamay Noir. Hand harvested, fermented under carbonic maceration, then aged in oak barrels (no new wood) for 6-9 months. Bottled without fining or filtration and little or no sulfite additions.

Terroir: Decaying granitic schist and manganese, area located in the south of the appellation.

The estate: Jean Foillard is one of those winemakers who have made the reputation of the Grands Beaujolais. This member of the "bande à Marcel" (Lapierre) produces mainly Morgon wines on 8 hectares. Of course, he practicces organic viticulture and vinifies his wines using the traditional Beaujolais carbonic maceration method. Little or no filtration and a minimum of sulphur, the result is sincere wines made by an endearing, humble and talented character.
